DOUBLE WISH. PERIWINKLE PANTONE
‘Periwinkle Pantone’ is the new single from Orange County duo Double Wish. It’s an interesting track that jolts into life with a flurry of percussion and guitars, before settling into a spiral of electronic notes. “I wanted to capture the sensation of being stuck inside alone for days because of the rain, and when the weather breaks, getting high and going for a hike with a friend,” explains Adam Sabolick. “All the colors of nature become so vivid, the smell of the wet dirt is unforgettable, and the magic of a rainbow curving through the sky.” Double Wish are one of the few bands who have been able to add the prefix ‘dark’ to ‘sunshine pop’. They take the genre’s traditional warmth and jangle and add a layer of subtle unease through their composition and arrangements. There’s a continuous pull between light and dark throughout their music. You can check out more of their unique sound on their upcoming EP, Universe Sometimes, when it drops on June 28th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
